An inexpensive way to get/rent chairs and tables for a wedding?

by DIY wedding planner on December 10, 2011

We are trying to spend very little for our DIY wedding — has anyone come up with other ideas to get chairs and tables for a wedding/event other than using a rental service??

Go to Walmart or Target and but a TON of fabric…like white or something and then ask your friends, neighbors, family members, etc. to borrow some chairs…have them relatively the same look size and look and then cover them with the fabric that way they are all the same on the outside but not really :) You could also have a variety of wooden chairs from friends and family and make it apart of the look of your wedding. Be careful with doing this because you don’t want it to look tacky…you want it to look rustic and have all the chairs go together with style. Or go to a local church and ask to borrow chairs and cover them. They may charge you, it depends on your relationship with the church and such.

Do you know any firemen or school board members? Sometimes they can use their connections to borrow those things from the firehouse or school.

Good luck!

Do you know anyone who has connections at a church? My church has scads of those typical metal folding chairs that they lend out to members.
