Anyone have any cheap wedding favors ideas or where to buy them?

by DIY wedding planner on December 9, 2011

Get married in June 2008, but trying to get a head start. My wedding will be elegant, but not expensive. I am just trying to get out of spending a lot on favors and more on everything else.

Check the dollar stores. They might have some items that are tasteful yet inexpensive. I know that party stores carry stuff like that…I saw something the other day at one that caught my eye. It was little jars of honey and hte labels had the bride and grooms name on it and said soemthing about being my honey bee…it was really cute.

I went to a wedding where they took roasted nuts and wrapped them in a pretty paper (like a cone) and tied raffia bows on them. They stamped them with the symbol they put on the invitations. They worked as a party favor and a snack!

I bought organza bags with satin corded drawstrings from ebay and filled them with Hershey Kisses and Hershey Hugs. The tag I personally made for the bag said “Sweet Bliss Begins With a Hug and a Kiss”. They were a hit and extrememly inexpensive. I went to Costo and bought two huge bags of Kisses for only $9.00 and Target had the Hugs on sale – Two bags for $4.00.

Or, this was the other idea I was going to use. I even ordered a set for myself just to see what they looked like and they were really nice. I just decided to do the other one because it fit our theme better. They’re photo frame coasters and can double as place cards for your guests. They’re only $1.09 for a set of two!

We bought boxes from, we were able to get 100 for $35, the same boxes on a regular favor site were $.99 each, then we are going to the bulk store and getting Lindt Truffles or Hershey Kisses to fill them up, each box will hold about 2 truffles or 3 kisses. So we’ll spend less than $100 on favors.
Check them out, they have many different kinds of boxes and bags and everything for favors…CHEAP!

Good lUck!

I personally think favors are something that can be skipped. I bet no one will even notice. Chances are if you get something cheap, no one will really be excited by it anyway. I’m not trying to be rude or anything just honest.

Cheap useful favors could be matchbooks…
I think the matchboxes are a little classier..(third item down)

Try Michaels or Ac Moore. I got the bells there and tied a ribbon on them. Lots of the guest took those. I also got the bubbles there for them to blow when we walked out the church. Also you can make favors. We made soaps in the shape of doves and wedding bells. And you can get the chocolates with your name and wedding date on the wrapper. YOu can find lots of ideas at
I really liked the seed paper ( so they can grow flowers) went to the local walmart, bought my own seed paper, some card stock and ribbon and made my own for way cheaper.

like the first girl that answered, check the dollar store. preferebly one that EVERYTHING is $1, dont go to the “dollar stores” where stuff is like $5 and up lol. also, if you dont mind paying a few bucks for shipping and handeling, or using a credit card, google it. type in “99 cent wedding favors” and a whole bunch of stuff should come up to choose from.

heres some of my choices:
