DIY flowers (bouquets, corsages, etc)?

by DIY wedding planner on May 27, 2012

I want to make my bouquet, my two Bridesmaids bouquets, 7 bouts, 4 corsages, and 8 small centerpieces out of roses.

Good DIY tips? Websites?

Where did you store the flowers? When did you prepare them? How did you keep them hydrated? Were they open when your wedding began?
Well last minute for me would be the night before because we have to get up and go the next day to decorate the venue, then do my hair and makeup, then get dressed and do some of the pictures, then the ceremony is at 4:30. We can’t go in until 10am.

it needs to be done pretty much at the last min using real flowers the corsages and boutonnieres can be done a few days before the wedding b/c you can keep then in the fridge to help keep them fresh also spraying them with clear hair spray will also help with that. before you start make sure to put them into a vase with warm water and floral food for about 4 hours to rehydrate has a lot of options and help

This is not a good idea, because you can’t get flowers till day of or some day before but some have tto be in cooler ASAP. You need a retired florist or someone who does this on the side. Have you had any floral training. I used to work part time at a florist and I am not saying this because of that. The items you are wanting to make are the hardest things to make and require much detail, patience and time. You will be a nervous wreck on your wedding day. Please do not attempt this. Where will you get your flowers. If you do, I would do in silks so you can do ahead and silks (the pretty ones are not that cheap). Please shop around for a good, but inexpensive florist. I am sorry to have to say this unless you have nerves of steel you will unknowingly ruin the best day of your life.I wouldn’t attempt this last minute without help. Do you have any floral experience, do you have access to a cooler, do you have a wholesale license????? There is so much to this, ribbon, etc. and handling the flowers a lots will bruise them. And they will look just like they are homemade.
If you do this, try to get a florist who will give you some advice. But, again I say, pay out the dollars for a florist, you won’t regret it. Please.PS-all the roses will have to de-thorned too. Do not spray them with hair spray. Get a spray bottle that has a good mist and mist roses every so often, not too much or they will rot, but they need to misted. Also, what about greenery and you need to buy some Green Glo to spray on greenery to make it clean and shiny.

I don’t have any experience in this area, but have done some looking for my own wedding… here are the sites I found: – search for bulk floral or wedding flowers

Good luck!
