So we are on a very limited budget, we are a young couple with a daughter,a house and I’m back in college. We kind of did things backwards haha. Anyway since we have a limited budget we are thinking of catering our reception with the help of willing family. Here’s the menu:
Chips salsa and guacamole on the tables
Soft and hard shell tacos with the choice of beef or chicken filling. The rest of the fillings are tomato, lettuce, hot peppers, sour cream, cheese, salsa and re-fried beans.
Sides:spanish rice and roasted veggies.
desert: wedding cake with fresh fruit(mango, pineapple etc)

We will be doing this for approximately 100 people, its a pretty laid back wedding we just want it to be fun. So any ideas? anything we should add (keep in mind money and time)? Is this enough food?

Yum, yum! Sounds like you’ve got it figured out! I’m getting married at the courthouse in April and having a reception the day after. We’ll be serving an hors d’oeuvres reception with the help of family as well. Your menu sounds delish to me!

What a fabulous idea :)

Honestly, I have NEVER had a good catered meal at a wedding – it’s always dry chicken in a bland sauce or overcooked prime rib with boring potatoes. I would much, much rather have homemade tacos!

I think it sounds awesome! People of all ages love making their own stuff like this. It’s also very easy for any vegetarians to make a meatless portion for themselves. I honestly can’t think of anything to add.

I love your ideas! My fiance and I are on the same track, very backwards. We have a daughter and I’m finishing college, so I was thinking the same thing! I would so love to go to a wedding and have tacos instead of fake food. I hope you have homemade tortilla chips, because that is the best! For the meal, I think its good, but I feel like maybe you should have something else like meat. I don’t know if its just me but tacos seem kinda light, I don’t know. Besides that everything sound lovely and now I’m hungry. Good Luck! Congrats!
