Have you used DIY wedding invitations?

by DIY wedding planner on December 11, 2011

We are getting ready to do the invitations for our October 3rd wedding. We have looked on line and like the products they sell at Target and think they may be the ones for us. Have you used them? Are they user friendly? Do they look beautiful when done? Please help if you can.

They work and look beautiful when done, What I would do is when you go to target the next time talk to someone in customer service and ask them if the ones that you like are anywhere near being discontinued. If they are not then purchas one package. Take them home and practice on a couple of them (eg. printer settings are correct, you have a font that you like, spacing is proportioned, etc.) if you like it great go back and pick up more to finish your invitations, if not you are not out a tone of money.

Congrats… and Best of luck!!

Just go to Target’s website and search for the invitation brand or style that you like, they have user reviews there that are specific to the product, I think that would be more helpful to you. The Oriental Trading Company has invitations and supplies with reviews as well, plus they will send you coupons and a catalog if you sign up.

Plus, check Michael’s or Hobby Lobby, they have some of the same brands as Target and do great coupons.

I’m getting married October 3rd too! We’re not using the Target brand, but we are making our own. I just bought some card stock and fancy stamps to ink on them.

Your best bet is to use Microsoft Word, because that program is very easy to change up your paper size. I’ve never used the kind from Target, but my friend used the same type of thing from Michael’s craft store and they turned out beautifully!

I used these

http://www.target.com/Triple-Debossed-Border-Invitation-Accents/dp/B000MXKSNY/sr=1-6/qid=1241311543/ref=sr_1_6/176-7526153-8258931?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=0&pricerange=&index=target&field-browse=1038576&rh=k%3Awedding%20invitations&page=8

Mine came out beautiful, but I will tell you it does take some time.
Also, the ribbon that came with them was cheap looking so I bought some ribbon in my wedding colors.

It’s a great way to save some money.

Those are nice if you are a “Crafty” person. If this is your first time going into DIY paper goods, then this may not be for you. Some people think they can do it and then realize what it takes.
If you are creative I say go for it, some of them are easy to use and you can really make them nice.
If not then my suggestion would be to try this place called Gramkin Paper studio (http://gramkinpaperstudio.com). They actually did my friends invitations custom and comparable price to those DIY target ones. They came out great and they worked with her budget. They do small and large events. I suggest them.. you can email them.

Good Luck
