You can buy the kits was the paper at Wal-MArt, Joann Fabrics or Micheal’s.

What I did was use heavy card for the backing, and print just on a bond paper for the text and then glue them together. It works better that way because you can’t print very well on heavier stock, but you want the invitation to have some body.

The down side is that they were really expensive – it was over $1/invitation, but that did include getting the text printed professionally ($0.08 a sheet, 4 invitations/sheet + $5 for the cutting).

Take a look at vistaprint.com I use them for all my invitations. I really like it because you can look at what the invitation is going to look like before you order it. I typed in wedding invitations and here is the address. I think there were over 200 designs to chose from.

The prices are very affordable, I did all my invitations for a party of 20 for around $4. Plus all of their stuff is so cute! Good luck!

Office max or Staples have invit. paper. Its thick and good for a wedding card. As for a program if you have Microsoft publisher you can do your invit. on that. I think that comes with Microsoft office.
If you don’t want to do that I would suggest going to hobby lobby. They have a lot of wedding invit. there and a lot of times they have wedding invitations on the bargain area. Some of them are blank and you finish them with your at home printer. They are very nice too. You can beat 50 or 70% off. Or try walmart or target.
Good Luck!

if you know someone who’s creative, I’d ask them to do it for you..you don’t want them to come out looking bad if you don’t know what you’re doing!

I make invites with photoshop but you can make invites with ms word, power point, and other programs if you’re a little computer savvy.
there are tutorials to make some here

half a sheet of normal sized paper is pretty big. are you folding them in half? make sure you check out postage first as you don’t want to save a stack of money on creating your invites only to spend a heap on postage.

tip for making your own invites – start with the envelope first then go from there.

I’m getting married this September and I elected to made my own invitations as well just to save money. If you decide to do pocket fold invitations try this site: http://cardsandpockets.com/. They sell the envelopes, pocket folders, card stock paper to print on, stamps, RSVP cards, etc. It also has a customer gallery so that you can get a few ideas. Hope this helps!
