Check out a craft store such as Michael’s, AC Moore, or Hobby Lobby. They all sell nice cake decorating books, baking pans, display trays, fondant, icing coloring, rolling pins, decorating tools, and tons of decorating goodies. You could probably make a gorgeous cake with the supplies sold at one of those stores.

Edit: My friend did a cupcake wedding cake– it was awesome!

you know what’s in right now…

cupcake wedding cakes. Type that into google images and you will find plenty of inspiration. But thats perfect from small intimate weddings.

For my wedding I went and got different sized styrofom squares and coated them with white frosting. I stacked them nicely and then made the top layer real. We cut into the top layer for pics but I bought sheet cakes at Sams Club to hand out to the guests… really cheap and since the cake is cut in back no one knows the difference. Good Luck I can send you a pic of the cake if needed!!

They have alot of DIY wedding cake kits and supplies at wal-mart, including the tier layer pans. I’ve never used them but I’ve recently looked at them for myself. They look pretty easy.
