I’m planning my own wedding and my parents 25th anniversary party so I’m strapped for cash. What are easy DIY ways to decorate the tables and ceilings that will make it look nice for my parents party? Also I need food Idea’s. What should I do I want it to look nice, since they never had a real wedding.
Thanks super mama!!! I’m going to be busy!!!

You have to get CREATIVE. Thats the only way to stretch your dollar and still make everything look awesome. As I like to say… I have a champagne taste on a beer budget!

~For the centerpieces… go to yard sales, goodwill, etc. Buy different class vases and bowls for the tables. They can all be different shapes, sizes, etc. Fill them with fresh flowers that you purchase from the grocery and spruce up a bit or fake flowers (you can get good quality from Hobby Lobby and they are usually on sale for 50% off)

~Tea light candles are cheap and make a huge difference in ambiance. Go to the Dollar Store for these.

~The #1 thing that makes the tables look nice… and can be a little pricey are linens. Thay make a huge difference. Again… buy second hand. Ebay is always an option and dont think that they all have to be the same. Just similar enough to coordinate and not clash.

~Sea glass, flat marbles, mirrors, rock… are options to work as fillers on the tables. This stuff is cheap.

~The food is what is pricey. Can you enlist family members to help? Dont think that you have to have a full dinner. Have an appetizer or dessert reception. I think its really cute when people have a dessert reception. Just dress the table really nicely and serve tons of different desserts. Just be sure to have it at a time that people wont expect dinner… like 7is in the evening when most people have already eaten. And put that it is a dessert reception.

~ DJ: DIY with an ipod that you have prepared a playlist for. Ask a close friend or family member to act as emcee and to introductions and keep things rolling.

The more you can do yourself the better. Look online or in mags… when you see something you like, ask yourself how you can create it yourself for less. Browse the craft stores for ideas. Good luck

Its hard for me to tell you because I don’t know what your guest list looks like. And if you are holding it in a hall of some sorts. I personally will check out halls and if you belong to a church. They have areas they hold parties. Are you doing a sit down dinner or buffet. Buffets are usually cheaper. Will it be a night party or early evening. Also see if the venue has an event the day before you and see what they plan on doing with there decorations some places just toss them maybe you can pay a small fee and they will let you keep them of course if the color scheme is the same.

Cake and coffee in mid-afternoon. No alcohol.
