We made ours with Word. I can’t remember what menu it’s in, but Word has a feature called bordering. I asked my husband to add a border to ours so I could use it as a guideline for cutting. If you play around with the different tabs for a while, you might be able to find it.

We didn’t make typical invites, though. We used blank-inside note cards, put colored paper inside, and layered tracing (that’s the part we’d printed our info. on) over the colored paper. We used scrapbooking tape to fasten the layers together.

They came out really great; everybody loved them. Here are a couple of pictures:

I used this site. I was able to pick up boxes of invites at party city and walmart for less then 20 bucks.
i don’t know how traditional you are going. We are far from traditional so were just doing this for ours.

Microsoft publisher is actually better, but if you go to:

You can find free templates for MS Word. Also you should be able to find free clip art which includes borders and other decorative elements. (Under the Insert menu choose Picture then Clip Art to browse through the clip art already in your programs.)

Good luck!
