I’m trying to come up with a DIY centerpiece idea for my wedding. The colors are pool blue and chocolate brown, and we have a chocolate theme so something that incorporates chocolate would be great. I don’t particularly want to be making a bunch of chocolate treats right before the wedding, and I really don’t want to pay anyone to do it either, so I’m flexible and okay with it not being edible. Budget is an important factor here, I’m not sure how much a centerpiece typically costs, but if I could keep it under $25 each, I would be thrilled (is that reasonable?).

Flowers are okay but I’m trying to come up with something that’s not “cookie cutter” and typical. Also, I don’t really like the idea of candles, I feel like it doesn’t go with the theme (correct me if I’m wrong, please).

I always get a lot of great responses on here, so thanks in advance!

I suggest playing around with ostrich feathers and blue led battery operated lights. You could place a square vase in the center, places feathers standing up, fill with wrapped chocolates of your choice then rest the LED light on top so that it illuminates the ostrich feathers with a beautiful blue glow. It will take some research to do it under budget but very possible and a dramatic effect. You will need white ostrich feathers which can be found in bulk online through crafts stores (look for sales!!) as well as the led lights (also called submersibles). Chocolate in bulk is cheaper if you order it from a local candy store by the pound and the vases you can score cheap at Ikea or another discount home store. You could even mismatch the vases and have diff. shapes and sizes if you want. Finish the look with a hot glued ribbon around the vase then overlay a home-printed monogram of your initials in your colors on white cardstock.
:) have fun and congrats!

For my wedding reception I froze pansies, which are eatable, in ice cube trays. Then put the ice cubes in glass vases on the tables. The guest could use the ice in they’re drinks and it was cute, and very inexpensive. You can get blue pansies. Just an idea.

Well, I think you should put these awesome custom Hershey Chocolate bars or mini bars on the table.. they can have your new last name and you and your hubbys name and wedding date on them, or whatever you want. Then for the center it is hard to explain but I will include a link … its a tall vase, with gel little ball thingys in them with a glowling light at the bottom, on a mirror, and you can put a flower of your choice in them. They are super nice! Hopefully the link explains them better then I did, haha

Chocolate and blue are beautiful colors. I know that you want something creative so here are a couple of ideas:

Get some friends together and let them help with the favors:

You could make a little card which says:

There is nothing more meaningful than to have your friends and family share the most special moments in your life. Thank you for sharing our day with us. This is a sweet reminder of how much your friendship means to us.

You could make some cocoa mix and divide it into containers or plastic bags which would fit into little boxes wrapped in pretty chocolate or blue or both) ribbons. Stack the boxes on a pretty doily in the middle of the table and put sequins or sparkly glitter all around the boxes.

You could find inexpensive frames and put them in a basket in the center of each table with your names and the date of your wedding in the frame.

You could make brownies and divide them into squares and place one in each box. Wrap with ribbon as with the cocoa mix.

You could have a basket in the middle of the table and have it filled with cookie cutters in the shape of a heart. Have a tag attached that says “Cut out to spend our lives together! Your names and date could be on it, too! You could have bunches of Hershey’s Kisses and Hugs in each basket for people to help themselves to. The baskets could be lined with chocolate and blue tissue paper.

You could have branches of trees sprayed white and put in vases in the center of each table. Hanging from the branches could be some blue and chocolate ribbons but for each guest you could have a small round hanging crystal (which you might have to hang on some clear fishing line) for them to take home (you can find them in crystal catalogues. You could write a note and explain that our lives are many faceted just like each person who is a part of your life; we come into each others lives and go in many different directions, we have beautiful friendships, the prisms are beautiful and reflect lovely colors to show the colorful and fun personalities of our friends; the facets of the crystals represent the facets of our lives; the reflections are the many differences which make them unique. The beauty comes from within the crystal, just as it comes within the person who is a part of your special day. Each person is significant and has added to the beauty of your life. The crystal which is given signifies all of these things and is very different than what others might give. A little far out but it could be fun.

You could do any of these centerpieces for $25. or less.
