This upcoming April will be the 25th wedding anniversary of my parents, and I wish to plan a classy surprise party for the both of them. I need some ideas on themes that will be fun, but still remain fairly sophisticated. I am planning on inviting many of their friends, for I feel that it would make the occasion more meaningful to them. Anyone have any ideas on where I should start!?

release white doves and then smash the rice plates. there are lots of traditional things made for celebrating milestones like the 25th anniversary.

Set out some pictures of their child hood, wedding, and the last twenty five years. If your mom still has her wedding dress then you could set that out. Play some music from that era. You don’t have to serve a whole meal. just set out some beverages and finger food.

First think about what sort of party your parents would enjoy – a large surprise party or an intimte get together at their favorite restaurant.

Next put together the guest list so that you can find a venue for the numbers.

Then find the venue and book the date.

Now think about the theme – silver, 25 years, or 1980s would all work. Use your theme for the invitations and the decorations. Decorations could be photos from the past 25 years you could make them into a banner for round the room.

Send out your invitations in plenty of time as some guests may need to book accommodation.

And get as much help as possible! There are some great anniversary party planners that you can print for free from here http://www.anniversary-gifts-by-year.com/plan-a-wedding-anniversary.html
