We are getting married in March of 2011 in portland Oregon at the widmer brewery. we don’t really have a theme for are wedding just a lot of candles not many flowers and after that i’m at a loss. first i would like a creative favor idea. we can order glasses from the brewery but its way out of are budget. do you think a snack is best? like chocolate covered strawberries or carmel dipped apples with extra treats on top? i don’t want to spend money on something someone will put in the trash. second are guests will come up the stairs and have a table where they can get a program and assigned seating. because of the venue they will have to be seated at the tables for the ceremony but i want something different but elegant at the same time also DIY. we are open to any ideas. my husband is a huge sports fan and i would like to put his touch on are wedding too we also wanted to name the tables and not just have the normal table 1 table 2. any ideas would be great. however i can say im not naming the tables after players on the blazers so please give me any ideas but that one.

I knew some one who had pictures or her and her husband as children and each table so one was a picture of them at one and so on so forth. I also knew some who had a spring wedding and each table was a specific flower. If you wanted a touch of sports have a groom cake made with his favorite team. For favor you could do a caramel apple I would get a kit and try and make them your self and have them wrapped in clear plastic and have your guest names on the stem of it at there table so they know where there seat is. Or you can do candles as a favor these candles are the best they smell great and look cool they have small sizes and they go for $3 a piece http://www.warmglow.com/candles/index.html

I do think a snack is best. What am I really going to do with some knick knack with your name on it, or yet another candle? Why not a homemade pretzel since you are getting married at a brewery? As for the tables, you can go with team names, stadium names, different sports names (football, basketball, soccer), you could even go with position names. But I do strongly suggest also having them numbered so people don’t need to wander around too much to find their table.

Wedding favors only work in two categories . . something useful and something to eat, other than that don’t waste your time, money or effort.

Something to eat: homemade cookies
Something useful: candlesticks or bud vase

Things that are thrown away: love song CDs, key rings, book markers, budget wine, extra large chocolate bars

If you really wish to do something positive for a little bit of money then donate to your favorite cause or charity or non-profit organization. You can donate as little as $10 or as much as $100, because no one is going to know but you, the Bride and Groom. This message can be put in a frame and put on your gift table or guest book table . . “In honor of their wedding day, Mary and John made a donation to XYZ in lieu of wedding favors.” Your guests will be impressed with your thoughtfulness.
