I am getting married in 2 weeks and it is all that i have thought about since I got engaged. It is an obsession.

My advice on DIY…. do it NOW!! I am doing hand painted glasses for my favors and I thought I was doing good on time and I just finished them this morning! I know that at least they are done 2 weeks before, but I wished that I had gotten them done months ago, because they were all I could think about. It just kept looming over my head. UGH!

Good luck!

I’m obsessed, my date is 6-25-11. I don’t have any hints, or diys but I just wanted to share that i too feel the same way. we have the church but it has no reception hall :( so i feel like I”m scrambling to find a reception place because they book soooo fast. You’ve got plenty of time, most wedding planners wont even start planning until about 6 months. When my sister got married the first time, she tried to find a wedding planner that would plan it a year ahead and she told my sister to come back in 6 months. So i’d say you have plenty of time. But i too feel anxious and like it’s not enough time and like I’m running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

Haha, some days, yes. Other days I don’t think about it, then I feel bad that has time has passed and I haven’t got anywhere! Also getting married in July 2011, and boy does the time fly!

Book your venues and your vendors NOW. Setting a tentative date is good, but you’ll be out of luck if your church/chapel/reception hall/etc. doesn’t have availability.

We were engaged for almost exactly a year (got engaged late July, got married late July). I had the ceremony and reception site booked by mid-August, I bought my dress in September, and all of my major vendors (photographer, DJ, florist) booked by November.

I don’t mean to make you panic, but if you live in a highly populated area you should try to get stuff taken care of soon. The summer is a popular time to get married.

Get organized. Make lists, budgets, keep folders and notebooks for your ideas.

I go through streaks where I’m obsessed with it.

We got engaged in January of 2010 and are getting married in October 2011. We wanted more time to reasonably pay for everything and not feel rushed.

But I go through streaks where its all I think about, all I research, etc. But on the flip side I also go through some streaks where I get dis-interested in it as well, not that I’m not excited but at some point the novelty perhaps wears off.

So its not what I constantly talk about with my family & friends – I come to places like Y!A and wedding message boards since many are like minded brides to be or I can get ideas of things to do, questions I have with unbiased opinions since nobody knows me.

I am not at all obsessed with planning my wedding. It will be just one day in my life. If I live to be 60, that’s one day out of 21900 days. Sure I want to look good and have a fun party. However, I want to enjoy my life until then as well. I have no intention of letting my wedding overwhelm me. Best wishes!

I got engaged September 18th, 2010, and my wedding is set for April 9th 2011.

I have days where all I want to do is plan the wedding and look at flowers and do it all!!!
But it only happens one a week, or so.

I’m just more excited about getting married and finally being with the love on my life <3

Just relax and enjoy it!
You only get married once (hopefully) make sure you stop and enjoy the process!

I got engaged Feb. 10, 2010 and am getting married Oct. 21, 2011 and my wedding is ALL i think about! I am always researching things online but we can’t start seding in deposits until about Jan/Feb so I am worried everything I want I can’t get. We have already found our reception site and my dress!

Yep. We are getting married 9/10/11 and I already have my dress, ceremony site, and reception site, photographer, d.j. and almost all my centerpieces figured out. I have all my bridesmaids and his groomsmen picked and most of my bridesmaids have tried on the dress I want for them. So we have to get groomsmen and groom tuxes and ring bearer and flower girl outfits. and then bridal party gifts…. I think about it at least once a day.

You have plenty of time. After the pick a date and find a venue, the rest will fall into place. There is no reason for stress. Planning a wedding should be fun.

I was. But the cost of it is freaking me out.

For DIY, check out Martha Stewart Wedding. Very helpful!

Im having a short engagement time. I got engaged October 20, 2010 and we are getting married may 8, 2011. Talk about stress! I have my place booked and got my photographer. I have a meeting with a DJ and florist next week. Also the place i am having it has a $6000 fee JUST for the rental. So in order to save alittle money we compromised on the date and they (for some unknown reason) dropped the rental charge. Its going to be on mothers day. Thats been sitting on my mind. What if no one comes? What if i have no moms there? I am CONSTANTLY looking for favors, dresses, center pieces blah blah blah!!! I have put my school work on a back burner because i cant get on the computer without editing my wedding website. AHH someone save me, i need a vacation! Oh great, now im thinking about how i haven’t planned the honeymoon yet. You want some advice, get the planning over with asap so you can finally breathe.
