We’re trying for DIY, low-environmental-impact, non-heavy, portable food. There will be no way to heat food, but we will have lots of coolers. I’m a vegetarian, but my fiancee is not. Dinner will be around 2:00pm, outdoors in September. I’m thinking:

- big green salad
- bread/rolls
- pasta and potato salads
- cold soup?
- choices of cold sandwiches

Anyone have any better ideas or additions?

Thanks SO MUCH in advance!

I’d add a cheese and cold cuts platter and some fruit salad.

If you set out a spread of some nice breads (focaccia, sourdough, italian, etc.) and some gourmet spreads with good quality cold cuts a sandwich bar could be fun!—or chicken salad croissants and roast beef ciabattas. Could you do some sort of gourmet sandwiches like this?

I would include a pickle/olive tray….add garnishes of cheese cubes, cherry tomatoes to platters.

I would include a fruit salad or a fruit platter

I would also suggest a caprese salad (tomato slice, mozzarella, basil leaf w/condiments)..see here>

(I suggest you google “caprese salad” because you will see many different pics of designs to arrange on a platter)

You could have little finger sandwiches: turkey, ham, just cheese, pb&j (if there are any kids), etc.

You could also have wraps, with the same things in them just in a tortilla.

Or you could do a barbeque…with burgers and hot dogs and stuff.

Additions: fruit/fruit salad, chips (maybe too casual), mac and cheese (you could put it in a croc pot to keep it warm) and I think you should definitely do the garden and pasta salad.

Personally cold soup doesn’t sound very good to me…

Hope this helps(:
