Need centerpiece ideas?

by DIY wedding planner on May 27, 2012

My fiance and I are planning our wedding, and I’m trying to figure out what to do for centerpieces. I had an idea using different size/shaped candles, but for the amount I would need it’s going to get pretty pricey. Anybody have any creative centerpiece ideas? I don’t mind DIY projects, but I just don’t want to spend a fortune. Our colors are black, red and white if that helps! Thanks :)

when are you getting Married?
summer winter.. near a holiday.
it may help with ideas.

You are showing an ultra sound picture due in June, I am assuming this is yours, and you may be getting married after the birth of you child.. this is also good. you could use black and white pictures of you child on the centerpiece some with you and you husband to be and some just of the new baby. Photoshop can do great things and add a red accent to each picture. or they could be placed in red frames.

Depending on when it is you could do this really cool thing that i’ve seen. Get a clear vase (can be cheap) and put a simple candle in it. Under it put a mirror to reflect the light. (this can get a tad pricey). If you want you can put smaller candles around it. I wish i had a picture it was so pretty! Good Luck!

How about having floating candles in different sized vases of water? Most of the materials are available at the dollar store, and you can really dress it up with ribbons on the vases and stones in the bottom. They were the center peices at a wedding I was at last month, and they looked great in addition to creating a very nice atmosphere at the table with the candle light. The wedding I was at used three different sized vases filled with water with stones in the bottom and a floating candle that fit the diameter of the vase, tying the look together was a ribbon tied around to cover where the water met the bottom of the candle.

How about tall cylindrical vases with painted willow branches inside (just go outside and get some or you can buy them really cheap). You could put some colored pebbles in the bottom and wind fairy lights or white christmas lights around the branches (battery powered would work best). So you could have red pebbles in the bottom, black painted willow with white lights :) Kind of like this look but with your colors and such:

Or else use a tall vase with black and white stones or pebbles in the bottom, fill it with water and put a single red rose submerged in the water (note you’ll have to use fishing line or something to attach the rose stem to a rock etc so it doesn’t float). You could also use come ribbon to tie around the vases if you wanted. Kind of like this:

Do you have a theme for your wedding? It would be easier to give you good ideas if you did :)
