Please help! Printing wedding invitations?

by DIY wedding planner on November 5, 2012

I bought those invitation kits by Brides from Michaels. I’m getting ready to print soon but my printer kicked the bucket. Instead of shelling out more money for a new one, plus ink, I was thinking of having them done at a print shop. Will they print for you if you have the template already? Has anyone done this and can you give me any suggestions on where to go? Thanks!

I wanted to help but realized I have no clue what a print shop is?
What I did (I had the same problem, I hate my printer) was I had a friend that said yeah come over and print them over her, so that is what i did.

Yes I had to do this once (I used to make invitations of all sorts as a sideline business). Look in your phone book under “printers” NOT copy shops. Printers are usually professionals that have made this their lifework. Copy shops are stocked with teenagers who don’t care how the final product turns out. PLUS, a real printer will charge considerably less. Call up and ask about your template to see if they use the same program. You might have to redo the template, or they can redo it for a fee (much cheaper if you do it yourself).

Hey there,

Yes I got mine done at the print shop, I’m from Toronto, not sure where you’re from.
But as for me, it works out lots cheaper to get them printed instead of me having to buy ink especially coloured ink.

I paid 48.50 each for my invites and response cards a total of 109.61, if I printed my own, my colour ink cartridge alone costs over 100 dollars and most defenitly for the one cartridge there wouldn’t be enough gold ink for 200 invites and rsvps!
I’m really happy with them, plus it’s raised gold ink – very beautiful!

I sent the print shop a pdf doc of my invite layout and wording and rsvp and before they printed them off they emailed me a proof of what it would look like.
I cannot be happier!
