I’m having a DIY wedding and we have crossed many bridges, but the biggest one I’m stuck at is the decorations for the reception hall. I would like to include tool, willow bunches, white Christmas lights, and candles… but I am not sure what to do with the willow bunches, and I need some more decor ideas. Please help :) Also if you have any pictures that would be great too. Thanks!
I would LOVE to have an event coordinator. I will have a family friend setting up the hall. But I just can’t afford to hire someone to take care of getting all the decorations. :(

appoint the event manager for your party……… that will be best and you will be relaxed on this part.
after all you also should look great on your party……

If you like branches, my best advice is to put it in one of the tall circular vases filled 1/4 of the way from the bottom with nice stones that would compliment your theme.

As for white chrismtas lights, maybe put that behind an awning if your recpetion area has that so it gives it mood lighting. The tool can be lined at the perimeter of the bridal table. But not too much or it will look tacky.

for your willow branches….if you are talking about using pussy willows, then just put them in tall clear vases…preferably square ones, since they look better than circular….and fill the vases with glass marbles or decorator rocks about 1/2 to 3/4 full. the marbles and rocks can be found at your local craft store or online.

if you are talking about using weeping willow tree branches, then cut the branches at a place where what you have left looks like a small version of the weeping willow tree and secure it in pretty looking low ceramic bowls or vases that match your colors or accent your colors. fill them with enough quick-crete (available from your local hardware store or lowes or home depot) and set the branches in and let dry. then cover the crete with those small decorator stones or moss (also available at your local craft store) and use them for centerpieces. they will end up looking like small willow trees if you cut full enough branches.

as for the tulle and the lights….you can use tulle for making garlands to go around the edges of your tables…the head table, the cake table, gift table, etc…or around the doors and windows…just be sure to use plenty of tulle because it is see through and gets lost easily unless you have a good bunch of it. you can put your christmas lights right in the center of your tulle swags for a dramatic lighted effect.

or you can use your lights in the little willow trees or you can make a heart of our lights to put on the wall or the center of the head table.

here are a couple of sites to help you with some ideas. saveoncrafts.com (lots of lighting ideas) and http://www.ehow.com/wedding-tulle/ for ideas on using tulle and even a how to video.
