wedding dress and wedding ideas. help?

by DIY wedding planner on December 9, 2011

Okay, I’m getting married in 10 months. I know, that’s really soon. We’re having a normal? size wedding, I guess, indoors. It’s an October wedding. Here are some things I would love to have your input on:
1) I love this dress. Have you ever seen one at a less expensive bridal shop like this? Links?
2) I’m thinking black mostly with pink accents for our colors. This kind of pink…..
Any ideas? Any sites with good pictures of cakes, accessories, decor, dresses, etc?
3)Where can I find unique cake toppers?
4)What are some different things you’ve used or seen used instead of rice, bubbles, etc.
5)Any creative, pretty, classy ideas for DIY favors, decor, centerpieces, etc?
6)Anyone know where I can find a good officiant in Southern Indiana? My fiance is very much NOT religious.
7)We’re getting married at Spring Mill State Park.
8)We have 8 small kids in the fam. ideas?
Also, so far I have no idea how many people will attend. I would like a lot of people to be there, but I don’t know if that will happen. So far we only know of about 60 people that will be there for sure.

Cake ideas?

There are so many people that SHOULD have a big role in this wedding, but not enough spots for them. Any creative ideas for extra jobs?

Is it bad to have a reception with just cake and punch?

Creative favor ideas?

Please help. Best answer to details, pictures, etc……though I would love to hear ANY ideas from anyone:)

From the overload of questions and the short timeframe I would really reccomend that you hire a wedding planner.

WOW, you have a lot of this to address. I recommend that you register on and visit one of the planning boards. I did that and I basically have my entire wedding planned out already. My wedding is in August.

FYI some of the ladies over there can be rude and just plain mean. When you find the right board you will be glad you did.

Good Luck

Let me start out by saying that I will ATTEMPT to answer every question. However, I am new at this wedding thing too. And congrats with your engagement.

1) Will post when found.

2). Cake:
with these sprinkled on it:
3)cake topper:
4) read these:
also, my cousin has her geust ring bells. You could have little silver bell with black and pink ribbons.
8. ring bearer, flower girls, ushers and jr brides maids (for the slightly older) have some light candels, or some carry your train.

1) I like that dress but I cant say I have ever seen one like it.
2) The colors are differnt I guess the black got me but I love the pink
3) google cake toppers images
4) butterflies or doves
5) arch ways covered in maybe a pink tule with lights / candy centerpieces are always great that way when your taking pics that give your guests something to munch on / lots of flowers and tule
8) you are having 8 kids in the wedding you might want to just let them walk down but then let them sit in the front pew or chairs

Awesome questions!

1) Very pretty! I love the off the shoulder touch.

I’m not sure what that one costs but this is kinda similar. You could easily have sleeves added.

I’m sure you could have the bodice altered to add a tulle overlay and change the sleeves pretty easily.

This is pretty one along the same lines.

2) Cake
This one layered…
Another neat one

another one…
I really like this one…
nice also I think they are programs…

Brides maid dresses…
You could make the belt on this one black?
I like the black dresses with hot pink accents here…

Weddings in your colors for ideas…

Scroll to the bottom on this page to see the Samantha pictures. Her flowers are nice and I LOVE her cake. All in your colors of course!

3) I love flowers or fruit for cake toppers. I posted some examples above. Here are a few more…

I also have an artist friend who does sculptures. You can email if your interested.

4) Loving lavender wedding “rice” right now
Rose petals are nice.
Sparklers, confetti sticks or biodegradable confetti are options too.
You can also go with the old stand by of bird seed.

5) I have a TON of diy ideas!
Paper lanterns
Faux lanterns- I’m actually going to do these and I tied a pen light to the fishing line and it illuminated it beautifully.
So cute…

Really the Martha Stewart site has a ton of good ideas.

A couple other ideas I’m toying with…
Baby food jars hung with fishing line at different lengths with fishing line in the trees surrounding the reception area with electric tea lights inside at night.

Candles with a ribbon in my wedding color around the bottom. In the middle of the ribbon putting a wax seal of our monogram.

We are having a “champagne” fountain of sweet tea. =0)

Using babies breath and greenery for the flower arrangements.

6) If you have a good friend or family member you’d like to marry you the Universal Life Church will ordain them for free!

7) Congratulations!

8) My aunt and uncle had a really cute thing. They had all eight of us with balloons in their colors lined up by hight and we semi-circled them around the gazebo.

If you just meant what to do with them in general. Cover a corner table with paper put a bucket of crayons and small toys in the middle? A friend of mine had a separate room in the venue set-up with all of that plus a twister board, a dvd player and the grooms play station. They rarely saw the kids and when they did they were happy.

Hope some of this helps!!! Cheers and good luck!!!

P.S. I don’t think there is anything wrong with a punch and cake reception. But, have you considered having a desert and signature drink reception? Should be a lot less expensive but still steps it up a notch.
