first – find out if they are registered. Although buying a gift from a registry is boring and expected – I can tell you that it is appreciated. The last thing you want is for them to get three different varieties of a toaster or iron. They registered for things they want and need – and won’t think you are ordinary for purchasing those things.

Most people register when they get married. You can go online to their registry and see what they want. Then, all you have to do is figure out what price range you’re looking in. Then you KNOW you can’t go wrong, because they’ve already told you they want what you’re buying.
If they don’t have a registry, suggest one, or buy a gift card and put it in a nice little gift basket if you don’t feel comfortable just giving a gift card by itself. There’s nothing worse than winding up with 8 toasters & then trying to figure out where everyone bought theirs so you can return 7 of them.

Most brides have a wish list at their local stores for you to check. That way you can see what their themes and preferences are. If in doubt, ask their mom. Usually, a shower gift depends on the type of shower they are giving to the bride. Lots of showers are specific. For my sister in law, I gave her a kitchen shower since she already had all the clothes she needed for her truseau. If it is a general shower, and there isn’t a list at the store, then the sky is the limit but usually you get something for the ‘bride’ herself and save things that both the bride and groom can use for the wedding gift. The same is true for that gift. If there is not store list for them, then you can pretty much give any gift for a wedding but the most used one is money. A good one for that also is a gift card to a store that is in their area that you know they shop at all the time. Then they can pick out what they want for their home.

The usual is something for the future home like a nice china set or crystal vase or something for the new home the happy couple will soon share.

There is a web site – ( ), they convert a digital photos into paintings of different art styles and print them on canvas. My friend sent them a picture of his wife and they turned it into beautiful piece of art. I saw it and it really looks good.
