Wedding Place card Holder?

by DIY wedding planner on December 10, 2011

I’m not a very crafty person, but considering the price of the holder I wanted some ideas for DIY wedding place card holders, I thought about glueing the cards to a toothpick or a stick, but not sure what I could stick it in to hold it up. My wedding is outside so I need something sturdy in case of wind.

I saw some great favours last week. They doubled up as place names. A great money saver! A couple had bought fudge and simply iced the names onto them. The fudge could be home made or bought quite cheap. They looked really cute and personal as well as being a tasty favour. They won’t fly away either! This is the best pic I can find –,r:3,s:44&tx=95&ty=88

Cake would also work.

You can paint jam jars with a persons name then pop a tea light candle inside.

Use your tooth pick idea but stick it in a cute little candle which the guest can take away afterwards as a favour (warm the stick slightly first and it will just slide in).

You could get stones and paint the names on those.

you can make them small and use the fork tines to hold them. or you can punch a small hole in them and tie them to your napkins with a pretty ribbon

you can use any type of solid fruit to hold them, like apples. just cut the apple part way down and stick the card in the slit

or you can use pinecones, or pieces of wood or wine corks

or you can make them out of pretty heavy card stock and just fold them like a tent to be free standing

or tie them to the stem of a wine glass

I attached a link to what Im thinking in my head, but dont know the actual name…but my good friend used these to place black & white pictures in to display on tables, one on either side and then clipped with the metal piece and then stood upright on the black part, it worked great and was super economical! Her colors were purple, so she painted the black part purple and put some funky designs and gems on them as well…it would be perfect for place card holders in my opinion! its such a minor detail that doesn’t need alot of $$$ spent on it!

good luck!,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=837&bih=416&wrapid=tlif131281121015410&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=18006634773879942367&sa=X&ei=5-g_TsvJBZSTtwe22q2MDg&ved=0CGYQ8wIwAA#
