I am trying to get some ideas for my country wedding reception. I have all special songs, first dance, couples, parents, last song, but what are the songs you just love to hear at a reception? Country, rock, POP…already have some AC/DC, brick house, ain’t goin down by Garth… this is my fiance and I’s first wedding and we are in our 30′s… we are also a DIY couple, so we are supplying the song lists!

This has been playing on my mind as well. My fiance and I have really different tastes in music. I like rock and metal from the early 90s, while he likes electronica! Our friends, to make things difficult, don’t particularly care for either.

If there is any music that was often played at house parties or means something to you, your fiance and your guests I would stick with that. Also you haven’t made it clear whether you mean music for the dance or just background music for your reception. If its the former, I would stick with fun tunes that bring you all back to nights out together, house parties etc mixed with some upbeat love songs. If its the latter, maybe some lounge music or gentler stuff. Elbow and Telepopmusik come to mind

Both of you sit down together and just use what music you both like.

After all the wedding about the both of you. You do not need to think of what others may think, it is totally about what you both want.
