What are some unique, fun, funny, interesting wedding ideas you have?

by DIY wedding planner on December 9, 2011

I am getting married soon, and I want this day to be one that I can remember for the rest of my life, not just a day that I’m bored with and can’t wait to have it done with.

I’ve thought of many things but currently my mind has run dry.

I’ve thought of things like:
Picture matting instead of an actual guest book.
A Candy bar, purchasing candy online in bulk for cheap.
DIY chandalier trees

And a few other things, like a picture booth (For south Dakota is a big deal hhaa)

Any other ideas?

We had a dance were the DJ invited all the couples to the dance floor (I wasn’t particular if they were married or not, just had to be in a relationship together).

They played unchained melody, and every few secs the DJ would politely ask couples who were only together for a year to leave the dance floor, then 2 years, then 5 years, then 10 years, then 15 years, then 20…etc…

At the end we had a couple who was married for 61 YEARS!!!!! (isn’t that amazing?!!) we called them out on their lovely successful marriage, gave them a big hug, ask for marriage advice and celebrated by giving them a bottle of our home made wine with our custom wedding label on it!

A picture booth would be super fun for guests and very original!

something i have always wanted to do is put together a slideshow of pictures we took throughout our relationship and play it at the reception(after 1st toast while everyone is sitting) with one of our favorite songs as the background music..i just think it would be cool to let people see a bit more about your lives together, & it also would be something special for you guys to watch on ur wedding day

Don’t you think it’s a little weird that you are trying to plan this unique, personal wedding but you’re asking OTHER people to come up with your unique ideas?

We put submersable LED lights in our centerpieces and they looked so cool at night.

Give your guests something to really look at with goldfish swimming in aesthetically shaped vases. Consider building interesting mantels or use other species like Siamese fighting fish or white clouds. For their sake, add the water and fish right before the reception and return them to a bigger tank before the party’s over.

Build a structure consisting of a bunch of different ornate frames with photos of not only you and your fiancé, but also parents and grandparents whose marriages serve as inspiration for time-tested love.
