These are the bands I mostly listen to: black veil brides, blood on the dancefloor, evanescence and 30 seconds to mars… What would you say my taste in music is. Also can you recommend any other bands I might like? Thanks :3

ROCK is NOT exactly accurate or precise. Actually, to be more specific, one of these terms would better describe your taste in music:

ALTERNATE ROCK (Alt Rock or Alt for short) – is the most inclusive because it applies to music (such as punk, grunge, etc.) that is not considered mainstream and which is usually not played on your ‘popular’/typical radio stations. It’s usually the one I tend to use because I think it shows that we have alternative music ideas/tastes from that which is considered the norm.
PROGRESSIVE ROCK – “breaks the boundaries of traditional rock” and tends to use techniques that “avoid common popular music song structures of verse-chorus form, or blur the formal distinctions by extending sections or inserting musical interludes, often with exaggerated dynamics to heighten contrast between sections”
INDIE ROCK (Independent Rock) – this term is used for any bands that are not represented by a major record label or company

30 Seconds To Mars is my FAVORITE band & like the other bands you mentioned. Very hard to find bands like them, but here’s some that you might try & hopefully like:

As far as 30STM, are you familiar with their lesser known songs like ‘Valhalla’, ‘Some Other Son’ (aka ‘The Believer’), ‘Save Me’, ‘Revenge’, etc? If you aren’t, you really should check them out. These links list these lesser known songs and most have individual links to where you can listen to the songs (*Most of these songs are not available to purchase anywhere, so if you need to convert these videos to MP3 format, DVDVideoSoft is a good program to use).

Also, the band called THE ANIX is the closest I’ve ever found to 30STM. They are not an exact match, but their sound is very reminiscent of 30STM – especially their latest album ‘Sleepwalker’, they seem to be evolving into a killer band. I’d start with ‘Warning Signs’, ‘ Glass’, ‘Sleepwalker’, ‘In The Dark’, ‘Long Way Out’ & ‘Half The World Away’. They also did a great remake of The Cure’s ‘Burn’ from ‘The Crow’ soundtrack.
LINKIN PARK – The Catalyst, Iridescent, In The End, Shadow of The Day
BLACK LAB – This band is wicked underrated – they have such diversified music; NO two songs sound alike-you’re bound to find at least a few songs by them you’ll like; start with: Anything, This Night, Good, Remember, This Ship Goes Down Deep, Weightless, Gates Of The Country
RINGSIDE – Dayglo, Struggle, Tired of Being Sorry, Hey, Criminal
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE – Sing
RED. Start with ‘Let It Burn, ‘Breathe Into Me’, ‘Buried Beneath’, ‘Lie To Me’ & to show spectrum of their talent ‘Not Alone’, & ‘Pieces’
IMAGINE DRAGONS – It’s Time, Demons, The River
ONEREPUBLIC – Marchin On, Waking Up, All Fall Down, Apologize (feat)
FLORENCE + THE MACHINE – Shake It Out, No light – No lIght, Dog Days Are over, Drumming Song
RYAN STAR – Start A Fire, Last Train Home, Brand New Day (11:89 LP)
LUMINEERS – Ho Hey, Stubborn Love
TREVOR HALL – Brand New Day, The Mountain, House
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH – Far From Home
THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM – We Did It When We Were Young, 45
FUN. – Some Nights, We Are Young, Carry On
3 DOORS DOWN – Citizen/Soldier
MONA – Cloak And Dagger, Teenager
MAT KEARNY – Ships In The Night
COLD – Wicked World, Bleed, What Happens Now?
THE VEILS – Sit Down By The Fire
DAMIEN RICE – 9 Crimes
SPOON – Got Nuffin
WALK THE MOON – Anna Sun
PHOENIX – Litzsomania, Lasso, Rome
NEON TREES
SNOW PATROL
SEETHER (did song ‘Broken’ w/ Amy Lee of Evanescence)
LIFEHOUSE
ALL AMERICAN REJECTS
EELS
TRAIL OF THE DEAD (aka AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF THE DEAD)
SWITCHFOOT
DECEMBERISTS
THREE DAYS GRACE
CITY ARCHAIC
SKILLET
CIVIL TWILIGHT
THOUSAND FOOT KRUTCH
DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE
12 STONES
THE KILLERS
SNOW PATROL
NEEDTOBREATHE – Through Smoke
MUSE
COLDPLAY

been around a while, but worth checking out:
COLLECTIVE SOUL
CREED
INXS – Devil Inside, Here Comes, What You Need, Listen Like Thieves
U2 – 40, Bad
GOO GOO DOLLS (JOHN RZEZNIK – I’m Still Here)
CHALK FARM
FILTER
BUSH (GAVIN ROSSDALE)
PETER GABRIEL – Red, Red Rain
THE CURE
DEPECHE MODE
LOVE AND ROCKETS
JESUS JONES – The Devil You Know, Right Here-Right Now, I’m Burning
PEARL JAM
JARS OF CLAY
R.E.M.

Another good trick, that is sometimes helpful: both Amazon and iTunes have music suggestions (“people who like this band also liked…”) that come up when you enter the names of musicians you like. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes not ;)
